Default What's the difference in these knitting terms?

I am working a pattern that has

ssk: slip, slip, knit (slip next 2 sts knitwise, one at a time, to right needle; transfer them back to left needle, then knit them together through back loops. One st dec)

    and

    k2tog : knit 2 together

    both in the same pattern.

    What's the difference?

SSK gives a different angle of the decreased sts than K2Tog. SSK and S1 K, psso give the same "angle".. but ssk is easier, and looks much more similar to a k2tog in a pattern.

When I'm making socks I always use SSK and K2Tog to make everything line up and be symetrical.

Did any of that make sense... I've had a glass of wine (or two) with my sister tonight!

Thanks. I understand now that there's a reason. Going to have to look over the internet to find samples that show the difference in DOING it ... and in the results.

I found an amazing site with the definitions ... and even a mini-video!

Thanks, Cindy, for clueing me in . If you hadn't explained that there WAS a difference, I wouldn't have bothered looking!

yup, angles are different. I love slip slip knit, it's easier so if I don't worry about the angles balancing, it's a much faster way than K2Tog.
