Default I finally made something with the circular & DPNs

And I did it wrong. Not because I screwed up the circular needles or getting the hat onto the DPNs, but because I read the stinking pattern wrong

    I made this:
    http://cache.lionbrand.com/patterns/kwe-ellensHat.html

I read the "K5, k2tog across row" as knit 5, then finish the rest of the row with k2tog . I got almost done before I realized I was supposed to K5, k2tog, K5, k2tog, etc for the whole row. I did it wrong for every decrease row

Is it me or should the pattern read " *K5, k2tog*, repeat from * to * across the row " ?
Maybe I'm being too picky. Oh well. I tried to make a hat for dh, but it's so small I think it will be for my 2yo nephew

i can see how you would have read the pattern wrong. i usually crochet and since they use * to denote stitches to repeat, i would have expected them to be used in the knitting ones too.
nothing so bothersome as unclear instructions.
    i beat it's still a cute hat.

Maybe that's why I expected the *s, I've crocheted MUCH longer than knitting. Guess I've been spoiled lol!

You are right Heather, most knitting patterns are the same as crocheting ones with repeat across row between the **.

I think it still came out great!
