    Question Question about knitting

I did a little bit of crochet as a young girl and I just recently bought myself a "learn to knit" kit.

I'm having trouble with my stitches...I've learned to 'cast on' and now learning the 'knit stitch.' but I'm having trouble finding my 'cast on' stitches while doing the 'knit stitch'. I think it could be the fuzzy yarn I'm using. What's the best yarn to use for practice?

I HOPE my description made sense Clear as mud, right?

I'm just starting to learn myself. A good reference for help is www.knittinghelp.com

Do you mean you are having trouble finding where to put your needle to start the knit stitch? It could be the fuzzy yarn, it is a bit more difficult to find the stitches with that stuff.
Knittinghelp.com is a wondeful website. Another one I used to go to was stitchguide.com but now every time I go there it takes me to Annie's Attic.com and I have to search for stitchguide there

I like to use the cheap acrylic, plain worsted weight yarn. Like Red Heart or even Walmart's Mainstays brand. That way if I get it hopelessly knotted I don't feel *too* badly about throwing it away. It's also easier to see the stitches w/ just a plain yarn.

Heather is right Kim, go with RH or Wally's brand to start out. While the new fuzzy yarns are nice when worked up, some are very difficult to see the stitiches or to count them. I'm an experience knitter and I have a hard time with them. But then again could be these old eyes of mine!

Have fun and if you need anymore help, just holler!
