    Default Teaching myself to crochet

I've got a couple of books to teach myself, because I really, really want to learn. I seem to be having a lot of trouble with it, though. My hands don't feel right, if that makes sense? It seems to be really awkward. Did anyone else have this problem, and does it get easier??

My grandmother had taught me to crochet when I was 10 and I can definitely remember that it took a little while before I really got used to the feeling of the hook in my hand....I still don't hold the thread like I'm suppose to, though...feels weird when I do.

I am trying to teach myself too. I know the basic stitches but I have trouble following the directions. I am going to get a lady in my quilt guild to help me at the next meeting. I checked Quilt Bible out of the library. It's very informative and has good directions. I still have questions though.

Yes it will feel strange until you get the hang of it. If you need more help just holler or you can take a look at my tutorial here.

    Crocheting 101 Tutorial - Crocheting 101 - Part 1]

Also go to the Needle Arts forum and you will find individual tutorials for different stitches. http://www.frugalvillage.com/forums/...?forumid=50&s=

Have fun! And like anything you are just starting out learning, as you do it more and more, it gets easier with practice.
