Default need some ideas for a baby gift

we seem to have had a rash of pregnancies at work the last couple of months. ( i have stopped drinking the water and take mine from home ) anyway, i like to crochet something for the babies to include with my usual gift of a small diaper bag filled with some really handy items. anyway, i'm getting burnt out making baby blankets. i have a knifty knitter and make a hat for the baby on that since they work up quickly. anyone have any ideas for something to make besides a blanket or a sweater ( don't have the paitence for sweaters) ?

    burp cloths-
Usually they're made with flannel- but I think you can find some yarn that could be appropriate- cotton

booties, wash cloths, a changing blanket....make a baby blanket, add pockets at one edge for wipes, powder, etc to fit into (load the pockets with these supplies if you can, so mom will know what they're for) fold or roll it up and sew on a ribbon so mom can keep it tidy in between changes...

I guess that last one is same as a baby blanket, huh??

Um... headband-y things for baby girls. uh...
    huh...
    I am stumped

o0o i like the changing blanket. it's still a blanket, but it would have to be as big as the others i made. and it goes along with the diaper bag i usually give.

the burp cloths, do ya think a single crochet would be good? i've seen some patterns for them but they are fancier stitches and i just don't think they would keep spitup from soaking through.

what type of yarn would you use for a washcloth?

What about bibs or baby washcloths? I love cotton washcloths.

I think single crochet would be perfect for burp cloths

You might have to wait until the babies arrive, but this idea you can make up quickly...get some alphabet beads, beading elastic and pink or blue beads(about a size 6/0 i think). Make a keepsake bracelet with the baby's name on it...I think you have to have about 21 beads, including the name beads for each bracelet; make sure that you center the name with an equal amount of pink or blue beads on either side of the name.
