    Default Question on yarns

I went yardsailing this morning and found a sale that had about 40 different yarns. Some are new still totally in pack and some have been used a little and others are missing labels.

Anyway, I don't do any hobbies that involve yarn but because this was pretty cheap I purchased it to put on eBay. I read some of the labels and there are some that are wool, some that are wool blends, some that is cotton, and some that are mohair ( I think) and some acrylic.

Is there anything I should know before putting on eBay? For example, keywords that someone would look for, etc. For example are certain brands better - if so which ones in case I have some from that manufacturer.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have found that natural fibers are the most popular. Least popular with "yarn snobs" is the acrylic. But acrylic is good for making baby/child apparel & blankets. Fibers like cotton & cotton blends are on the low end of the $$$ scale. Wool & wool blends are somewhere in the middle. More expensive are things like mohair, alpaca, and angora blends.

Brand names, I couldn't tell you. I'm learning there are TONS of yarn brands!!

    Hope this helps.

Yankee Mom has got it right. If any of it is very thin, 75% wool, 25% nylon, that's sock yarn, which is popular now.

Very high end yarns include Malabrigio, Helen's Lace, Noro, Koigu, Dale of Norway, and Schaeffer. (I have none of those in my collection.)

Unfortunately, the brands you find at WalMart or Hobby Lobby are not going to get very high prices on ebay. Those include any fuzzy fur novelty yarn and Red Heart yarn.
So, what brands have you got?

A couple of the kinds I have are Bernat, Patons and Brunswick. I don't know what kinds they have at Walmart or Hobby Lobby but there isn't any Red Heart in the stuff I got.
