anyone do thread crochet?
just wondering if anyone does thread crochet? i bought a little pattern book and a ball of thread today when i was at micheals and thought i'd try the coaster pattern in it to give it a try. my mom has been hinting for doillies for a while but thought i ought to try something a little smaller the first time. i know a lot of us crochet with yarn, but was wondering if anyone used thread as well.
for those that do, any favorite patterns?wife to carl

I do! I do!
I love to make doilies, and lately I've been digging out my grandmother's OLD patterns for edgings and motifs. . . I rip the sleeves out T-shirts. . . add motifs for the sleeves and put edgings around the bottom. . .
Very IN right now with the teens in our area at least. . .

I go through binges of thread crochet. Christmas time I do a whack up of snowflakes adn other lacy things, but otherwise, I use it to do edgings on clothing, little gift bags, hair accesories etc. about.com is a good place to start looking for patterns and help.

My grandaunt taught me how to do thread crochet before she died. My first (and only) project was a placement (not sure what else to call it). It was circular and had a really pretty pattern. It was fairly easy to do (I am not particularly creative) and I would do it again once I finish up all my knitting projects.
