Hardanger?...
Does this forum include fine needlework, like embroidery of various types? I love to do hardanger myself. And goldwork. Also I've tried Brazilian embroidery, crewel work and cross-stitch. But my favourite so far is hardanger. Anyone else do fine stitchwork? What do you do?

Sure does include all that & I haven't done any of it in a while. I've always admired Hardanger & am in awe.

Missy, it's a type of embroidery that originated in Norway. Done on even weave fabric, usually tone-on-tone. Consists of satin stitches, pulled threads, needleweaving and filling stitches. If that doesn't confuse you! Here's a couple of links: one describing it and the other with photos...

I like the open work look too. I often design my own pieces. I take ideas from other pieces, from nature, and run with it. Right now I'm working on a dresser scarf for an antique oak dresser my grandfather made...or maybe his father. We're not sure. All we know is the ink stain on it was from the old inkwell days!

i don't do much needle work. i've never really had the paitence for it, but i love how beautiful the craft is. my mother used to cross stitch a lot and that was about all i could do but still had too short of an attention span to do it.
i'm always amazed at the end results. please post any pics you have when you finish something so we can all oogle over them

I'll try. I don't know how to post pics. But I have a digital camera (which I don't know how to use), so it's got to be feasible.
