Bought my knitting stuff...
Now I just need to sit down and try to figure it out. For some reason crocheting looks so much easier. Any advice?

Just be patient with yourself. Cast on cast on cast on, tons of times before moving on to the knit stitch. Then practice the knit stitch over & over & over until your comfortable enough to attempt the purl stitch (those are the only two stitches in knitting). Only then, when you've got those three things comfortably under your belt, try making a dishcloth or something small. Not a scarf. They take forever. You need something that's finished quickly enough that you can see the finished product (and learn how to bind/cast off - which you can do with a crochet hook
).

i agree about trying to make dishcloths onceyou get the hang of the stitiches. they are quicker than other things and it gives you plenty of practice on your stitches. and you have somthing useful in the end. if they look a little weird, my first one did, it's no big deal since it's just a dish cloth.

That's really good advice that Heather gave. Especially about the dishcloth.

Thanks Heather, and ladies! I'll probably look like a fumbling idiot.

We all do when we first start. I remember swearing at the needles and yelling "WHY DON'T THESE DARNED NEEDLES HAVE HOOKS ON THE ENDS!?!?!"

It took me about 3 yrs to "figure it out." I used to knit 2-3 inches and rip it all out. or Knit 4-5 inches and put it away for a month or a season. It took me a while to get the hang of it, but now that i got it... i can't go long without a project.
