What end of the yarn do you use?

When knitting or crocheting, which end of the yarn do you use?

The inside. I remember something about using the outside of the skein does something to the 'twist' & it tends to unravel?? I don't know. I just like using it from the middle because then I don't have to chase the dang skein around when it unwinds.

When I use to crochet I always pulled it from the inside. Haven't done it in years - cannot even remeber how to get it started.

So...is it wierd to unroll the skein and then roll it back up into a ball? That's the way my mamma taught me, so that's what I do!

every time I try to use it from the inside, it ends up with a huge knotted mess hiding inside -

so, to make life easier - I just use it from the outside -

most often i rewind into a ball. but if i don't, i use from the center

I do it occassionally. Especially if the skein is constantly knotting up or if all I get from the center is "yarn vomit". I just give up & wind a center pull ball

I don't wind them just into balls though. I hate chasing the darned things...
