    Default Anyone embroider?

    What are you working on?

I have a couple projects going right now. I'm doing pillow cases for my dd's for Christmas. Horses - their favorites. I just received some new patters from Sublime stitching that I can't wait to get started on.

Need to have some more coffee and get to work.

    Default EMBROIDER

I love to!!! I am working on something for my Mom, it was supposed to for a hundred Christmas's ago, but I have a hard time working on it now, I have been doing it for over 4 years. I cringe at it, but I am so close, I try to make myself do it. If I am lucky it will be for this year..

I haven't stitched in a long time and looking at the site for the stitching pattern you have waiting really makes me want to.
Do you have a favorite stitch? I love making french knots.

I'm so new at embroidery.... I haven't even tried my hand at french knots! It looks so hard. I've done a running stitch & back stitch so far. Don't laugh! I just might try a split stitch on the pony that is laying next to the mare on my dd's pillow case. (The dare devil that I am!)

I'm not laughing & the french knot is so simple. They make it look fancy but you are just wrapping your thread around the needle a couple times & then poking down through the other side. Bring it up from the bottom wrap wrap and bring down. wrap wrap poke, lol.
It (needlework)really does take practice & looking at the site you got the patterns from makes me wonder if I've bee doing my chain right. All I know is that it's relaxing & fun and if my hands don't get weird (carpal tunnel) I really enjoy playing with a needle & thread.

Candlewicking, ever try that? French knots galore and using a thicker yarn.

I'm going to have to look at candlewicking. Sounds interesting. My girls just asked for small patterns to be stitched on their hoodies. One dd wants beads stitched onto the wings of an angel. That will be something new for me.

I may have to look for a good tutorial book or print out some instruction pages. I can't keep running to the computer when I need help.

I am determined to try french knots though!

I can now do a FRENCH KNOT!!!! I found a link that has video tutorials and it has been so helpful!!!! I can see why you love them.

I've finished 1 pillow case, 1 bluebird on a jacket (fleece is not easy to work with) working on 1 angel on another jacket. Next is 2 more pillowcases for a gift.

    I'm hooked I tell you!

That's the one! I had to actually bring my project in front of the computer and do it with her.

Next on my list is a chain stitch. Watching a video is so much easier for me. I have a book, but it boggles my mind.

I love to embroider. I am still working on two tablecloths - that maybe for Christmas if I get them finished. I'm not great at all of the stitches, but onces the project is done, most all look good. I have done baby blankets before. Lots of fun. I'm glad you are trying new stitches...I think the key is to relax and have fun.

Check the website that Darlene posted - that's the one I used. It really helps to see a video tutorial. (for me at least.) I just might try that chain stitch this afternoon.

I would love to attempt a table cloth! Perhaps after the new year.... I'm planning a quilt for my hubby - a camping theme. That will keep me busy.

What are you stitching on the table cloth? I'm curious.

I too am a "show me how" kind of learner. I want to sew but reading patterns make me say wth? I really like the site & I'll be right there with you in front of the puter, practicing, lol. I'm even going to write the site owner to say thanks, lol.

I just started on embroidery project. I usually cross stitch so this is a stretch for me. I found the kit at a garage sale last summer. It is vintage, probably from the 70's. This project has a lot of different stitches. I'll have to check out that tutorial website.

I just found one of these at the resale shop the other day. Set me back a whopping ten cents! LOL! So many patterns in it. I'm almost tempted to try making a table cloth. Almost!

I'm happy to report that I have started a chain stitch! I'm so excited! I'm working on pillow cases for my sil and I'm doing the wording on them in a chain stitch.

My 6 yo was home from school yesterday and wanted to join me in stitching. I ironed on a fish for her. She's proudly stitching and running stitch! I'm sure Daddy will be happy with the tea towel he'll be receiving for Christmas!
