Desperate Question About Knitting Needle Size
I found an adorable barbie doll skirt pattern that calls for a size 1 knitting needle size. I have been to every store here & they do not carry a size 1...the smallest is a size 2.How do I modify the pattern for the skirt to look like its suppose to? It calls for baby/fingering yarn...is there a yarn that is thinner than that?

You may be able to find size one double pointed needles and use them as straight needles. Just put a point protector or a blob of clay on one end and use them as short, straight needles.
Try a gauge swatch with the size 2 needles. If you knit tightly, it may be just the size you need. How many stitches per inch/rows per inch does the pattern call for and how many do you get when you do a gauge swatch w/ the size 2 needles. Then you can take it from there.

There is yarn/thread that is smaller as well. Lace weight yarns, crochet threads -- just play with various threads until you find one that gives you the correct gauge.
