    Question Current projects...

    What's everyone working on?

I'm currently working on a hardanger embroidery course. Has anyone experience with the Embroidery Association of Canada and their courses? I'm currently doing my first course and am really learning a lot. It's also a lot of fun. And the product doesn't look too shoddy, if I do say so myself!

The courses give you an option of keeping a journal for evaluation along with the piece. What you do depends on the options you choose and the amount of money you pay varies accordingly. I think it's worth it to have a professional needleworker look over my project.

Other projects? I'm working on some quilted Christmas ornaments for sale in the fall. They are made from leftover bridal fabric samples from DD#1's wedding dress. I'm using Petite Treasure Braid to make running stitch lines around a star design. The actual star is alternating silver and blue running stitch, so it will be seen far off. And then the star is filled with beads, etc. It looks quite nice. I'll be making four of them.

I've also tried a smaller version of buttonhole stitch applique with wool felt, using "Four Seasons in Flannel" by Jean Wells and Lawry Thorn. I made a set of coasters.

My current knitting is a prayer shawl for our minister to give away.

    What are your current projects?

    Jean

Sounds like you girls are whipping out the projects! An embroidery class sounds fun!

I'm currently working on a granny square afghan. It's not going real well as I'm just now teaching myself how to read a pattern. I've made several afghans in different patterns but always had someone show me how and then I just followed their instructions. I never thought I could figure out how to read a pattern because I can't 'retain' information anymore but I'm finding even though it's challenging, it's fun!
