    Default old clothes, new...?

so i got my first sewing machine!

and i've got all these old rags/tees/clothes sitting around as scrap fabric but NO idea what useful, practical things to make.

    ideas? recommendations?

I guess the first thing is...have you sewn before?? You said this is your first machine, but that doesn't mean you don't have experience. I'd check out your library and see what books they have. For something easy try a rag quilt-do a search but they are super easy. There are also potholders...hmmmm I'm trying to think but my mind is drawing a blank....but at least it's a start.

First projects, apron, pot holders, little kids pull on pants and shorts.

From scraps? Pot holders, quilting stuff, doll clothes(blech..lol. I don't like doing it).

yeah i have sewing experience. just happy to have my machine (finally after all these years!). it was on special.

but anyway, i'm just looking for practical and useful things to "convert" the old clothes into.

thanks for the ideas... i'll see where to start.

    thanks everyone!

i ended up going to the library to get a few more ideas.

i did take a peek through some of nuisance26's posts and did get a couple more ideas from there.

first things first, i gotta write 'em down!

i've gotten a few things done already, was just thinking of some more basic ideas but i guess i can't move forward without making a few mistakes...

    so, here i go!

I was going to suggest nuisance26 before I saw I was beat to it already. She is really creative. I love the t-shirt thing she does.

I'm going to make some pot holders today with my old shorts!
