They just passed something here for "emergency unemployment" and unemployment extensions. I haven't worked in 2 years (by choice) and I just got a notice from the state that I have not been employed at all in the last 12 consecutive months I am eligible for this unemployment (even though, when I quit working 2 years ago, I wasn't eligible then, since I quit my job willingly).

It's not really the smartest thing. Not gonna take it obviously, because that would be cheating....but I need to call and explain their fatal flaw in this whole thing. I could work, I just don't and now they want to pay me for it???? I wonder how many SAHM's are gonna take the checks and never say a word!

Here in Michigan, we are doing our part to keep the nation's rate nice and high...we're at over 7%.

That is the way it works in Germany. You do get an unemployment check for being a SAHM, but there are certain conditions that have to be met. These would be things like gross household income limits and the overall age of your children.

Remember, unemployment statistics only count those currently receiving unemployment claims payment. Those whose benefits have been exhausted or have not claimed benefits are not counted among the unemployed.

Our state recently announced an emergency extension for those whose benefits ran out within the last few months.
