    Default Freezing Homemade Pizza w/out getting soggy?

    Ok, I have tried freezing pizza before and it didnt work. They always got soggy or didnt raise right, ect.

    I recently read a new idea on the Internet. Bake your crusts, then, let them cool. Spread your crusts with Crisco (or cheap equivilent) to seal the crust. This keeps the sauce from leaking into the dough! Then add your toppings and flash freeze!

    My son loves those little Pre-made Pizzas from Aldis for school (he goes to a private school and they pack their lunch and put the kids lunches in the oven)

    So I though Why not make my little crusts and try the Crisco/Shortening idea and see if it keeps the crust from getting soggy when baked!

    Will be curious to know if this works.

    Haven't frozen any.

    But to re-heat it..........and for those that don't like soggy crust.......use a frying pan to heat it in instead of the oven or micro. It doesn't bother me but a friend does this now after I told her about it as she can't stand soggy crust. She says it works.

    I make homemade calzones using refrigerator dough. I have frozen them several times and it has always turned out well l. Try a refrigerator dough pizza crust and see how you like the taste. If you like that, try freezing it as well.

    Updating this thread,

    I baked Potato Refrigerator dough in a cast iron skillet, cooled some, then topped with shortening
    then added my pizza sauce, cheese and pepperoni. Flashed froze, then put in small ziploc type bags!

    I pulled a frozen pizza from the freezer today and popped into a hot oven, directly onto the oven rack and baked it for around 17-20 min.

    The result? A wonderful delicious pizza that tastes Soooo Good! My Dh and my children approved of it! Mmmmm I am thinking of all the possibilities I can do with this frozen pizza now. Mini pizzas, large ones, deluxe, ham/pineapple, cheese pizzas. All for less $$ than the cheapest pizza you can buy in the store!

    I nuke it for 30 seconds to take the chill off and reheat b/c I usually have a lot of toppings then place it in a frying pan on med - low heat to crisp up the crust. I used to just reheat it in the toaster oven but we don't have one anymore.

    ~Glad it worked! I may try that sometime to see if I like it better than my current method.
    I freeze mine fully cooked. It takes 20 minutes at 400*(from a cold oven)to warm the pizza and the crust is crispy. I like it cooked so I can warm slices in the microwave for the kids. They like it soft.~
