Celery today and apples tomorrow. I found a reduced for quick sale rack in the produce section at Kroger this week. A bag of celery hearts for $1. I chop, dehydrate and vacuum seal some and chop, dehydrate, and run through the blender and make celery powder.

I also bought 3 bags of apples (5 apples per bag) for $1 each. They were regularly $4.71 a bag. They weren't old, bruised, etc. I am slicing, putting lemon juice on and dehydrating. They will go in crockpot steel cut oats.

What kind of dehydrator do you have? I'm saving up for one. Preferably Excalibur which last time I checked were still made in the USA.

An Excalibur would be terrific!! I am still using an old one - art of plastic broken on top - that a friend lent me two years ago - so far works for what I need!!

I have an Excalibur that I bought used on Craigslist and paid half price for. The guy also gave me a bunch of the sheets you use to make fruit leather.

apples - diced.... and I can't stop eating them. They are 99 cents a pound which is a good price here and I will need to buy more for storing.
orange zest (I grind it and put it in scones)
kiwi \O/ this was very tart
    celery
    bananas

I just went and bough more half gal mason jars for storing everything.

My dehydrated bananas were vile. I'm going to powder them in the food processer and hope they work in banana bread.

I got a bunch of fresh produce from my ex's place so I'm going to process that stuff this evening - not sure if I will freeze or dehydrate! I'm definitely doing onions and peppers this weekend.
