Default Question about using frozen fruit.

Can you use frozen fruit to make jellies and jams? I am trying to find the answer to this but just come across words like "prepared", etc.

Yes I do all the time, as well as the Amish do.

I buy some of my frozen blackberries and certain fruits in 25 pound increments. You can buy 25 pounds of pureed fruits that many canners use for jellies or jams. I make a blackberry jam( from frozen) with just honey and it goes in the fridge and has to be used up right away. I also freeze many of my organic strawberries and fruits to use later for jams, cheesecake or sundae toppings. Hope that helps.

Yep, and it is easy. I ran out one winter and just bought some frozen fruit to make my own. Just be SURE to get the unsweetened berries.........and see if they are 'sort of' separate in the bag.........if not, it means that they have been partially unthawed..........not good.........with anything---fruits or veggies.

Thank you, thank you, thank you everyone. You all have made my day.

We have a company about 20 miles away that sells frozen bags of vegetables and fruit. I was hoping to be able to use the peaches, berries, etc.

Thanks ff for the link. Perfect.

My Grandmother taught me how to make freezer jam, and that is what she used as well. Very cool!

I, too, ONLY use plastic.............NO GLASS.

I had a jam jar break in the freezer.............what a mess!

You only need to bump some of them lightly when frozen and they break. It wasn't like I dropped it or anything. And jam, because of the sugar, never freezes totally solid.
