    Default electric water bath canner

I ran across this on the net while shopping for a pressure container.

this is expensive! I do like the idea of not having to can in your kitchen and make the house hot.

When I used to do a lot of canning and didn't have AC - I used a turkey fryer. It ran off an LP tank from the BBQ grill.

turkey fryer......that's interesting. I thought a canner couldn't be used if oil has ever been it it.

I just used the turkey fryer HEAT SOURCE and set my regular canner on top of it. Sorry, should have made myself more clear.
But now that I think about it, I made chili and stuff in my canner all the time, and never had a problem. I'd not heard that before.

My pressure canner uses olive oil as a sealant, instead of a rubber gasket.

And mine uses Vaseline (an oil) as a sealant, too. I've never heard of this - especially as my pressure canner is a pressure cooker, too there's always some sort of oil or grease in the recipes I'd cook.
