Just cleaned out the playroom
Aahhhh...did that feel good! Rob has Julia and Patrick at soccer, so I set Matty up with some toys to play with on the floor and I cleaned out the playroom.
First, I emptied out the entire toybox, and filled about 1/2 of a grocery bag with junk. I then vacuumed out the inside of the toybox and then refilled it with the toys that are played with. I have three that I'll be freecycling or getting new batteries for. We'll see.
Then, I moved to the craft table and drawers. I emptied out the two craft drawers where Julia and Patrick have their coloring books, drawing pads, etc. I threw away any books that were completely colored in, as well as any papers that were partially drawn on and then forgotten. I then refilled the drawers with what was left.
Then I moved to the sticker bin. I pulled all the stickers out and trimmed of the empty sticker paper and moved all of the stickers from the big bin into a smaller, empty wipes box, and labeled it "Stickers." Much less space needed to store it, and with just the stickers inside, not the empty paper where stickers have previously been peeled off, it wasn't necessary for the big bin.
So, by the end, the entire grocery bag was filled, so I added it to the kitchen trash, along with a paper mache penguin that Julia's camp class made this summer and took them out to the garbage can. I plan on taking another bag around the basement and bedroooms either later today or tomorrow, and then adding that to the can outside and taking it to the curb for Monday's pick-up.
I feel so much better when I see things a little more organized in here. Also, I moved some toys from the bottom of the toybox to the top of the pile so they will be like new again for the kids, which will renew their interest. A good thing since it's getting to be so cold again, and there will be more indoor play!

Cleaning here too today, but I have not tackled the playroom and I don't think I will. lol I definitely need to face it soon, but another day.
Glad your playroom is decluttered and organized.
It does feel good to have things orderly.

Good for you Amy! What a freeing feeling it is when you get that extra "stuff" out of your home and everything is in it's proper place.
It really is funny watching your kids rediscover old toys that were there the whole time but they see them now in a different light.~*Darlene*~
