Got fruit flies?
I just tried this yesterday, and it worked:
Mix the following ingredients together in an open jar or other container (the quantities are relative to how many flies you're trying to get rid of):
1/2 qt water (2 c)
2 T sugar
2 T (white) vinegar
a couple drops of liquid dishsoap
Leave the mixture sitting out in the infested area, as long as needed.

Another tip: set out a glass of wine overnight. No more fruit flies in the morning

I made a funnel out of paper and taped it to the top of the jar. I used apple cider vinegar and caught lots of fruit flies over 2 days. They'd go down the funnel to get at the vinegar and then could not get back out because I taped the funnel to the jar and made the hole extra small. Eventually they fall in the cider and drown.

Hi,
Thanks so much for this tip (vinegar mixture) - It worked like a charm! We only have a few stragglers left now, but we're almost fruit fly-free! YAY!!!
Have a great day!
