    Default Ant killer

We get ant infestations all the time. The exterminator said we will never fully get rid of them, because they affect this whole area right by the beach.I use a mixture of sugarwater and borax. Does anyone know any methods that are less dangerous?(I have small kids)

Borax is pretty safe, in that you have to manage to get a pretty high quantity in to do any harm. The other things I know are actually more toxic, like sprinkling with talcum powder (makes them lose their trail) or actual poisons that kill them.

This is the first year we had only 1 ant. Yes one ant. We usually get the nasty big black ants (lots) every spring but I wiped every counter, container and shelf in the kitchen with vinegar in the beginning of March. I also plastic wrap sugar bowls, and anything the ants would think is nice. I have never had a year like this & am so very happy. Maybe it's a fluke thing but I am a happy lady. I've done the vinegar thing in the past, maybe a little later but was vigilant this year. Vinegar Rocks!!!!

My mom does vinegar - I'd forgotten that. I keep my sugar in mason jars with the lids on - not lovely, but not inviting to ants either. I pretty much keep everything in containers or the fridge due to a bad experience with mice a number of years ago - but it works to reduce ants also.
