Default A little prayer for my parents, please..

They lost their cat, Alex, today. He was approximately 17 years old, so it was coming soon, they knew, but it was hard to deal with. He's been their constant companion for so many years. He had stopped eating and drinking over the past couple of days, and was walking as though he had lost his sense of balance. Yesterday, they think he may have fallen down the basement stairs as he was trying to walk down them. They didn't see it, but heard a loud noise from the stairs and he was standing at the bottom when they got there, kind of swaying back and forth. He went into the basement and wouldn't come out, and they couldn't find him. They asked my brother to come over and find him, and he had crawled onto a floor-level shelf and gone all the way to the back of the shelf and curled up, and was breathing really shallowly at that point. They decided it was time to do something to ease his suffering, as it was apparent he would not last long, and was not comfortable. Fortunately, they have a vet in the area that was willing to come into the office on a Saturday to take care of it.

Please say a prayer for my parents - this is extremely hard for them after having Alex in their lives for so long.

Rest in peace, Alex. You were a wonderful cat, and you were very much loved.

I am very sorry for their loss. It's always hard when an animal has been your companion, especially for such a long time. ::hugs::

Aww, I'm sorry. We just put our cat to sleep a few weeks ago. They really do become such a big part of your life. Loss hurts.
