Default Has anyone heard of Savannah cats?

I recently saw these exotic cats- they are beautiful. I wonder how they are as pets?

They are beautiful! I don't know if I'd want a wild cat in my house though! Have they been "domesticated" or are they purely a wild cat?

They are a hybrid breed and start out with mating with a domestic cat. It is illegal in some states to own a purely wild cat.

I couldn't justify spending that kind of money just yet, but someday I think it would be great. You can take them out and walk them like you would a dog!

these are my favorite kind of cats.

    http://kenanderson.net/ocelots/

i worked at a student run zoo in florida, there was one there that someone had as a pet. it was declawed and had it's fangs removed, so it could never live with other ocelots, and it would never be able to live in the wild again. i felt so bad for it!

while i would love to have one, i would never do that to an animal just so i could have an exotic animal.

I know, I couldn't declaw or de-fang any animal like that. I just do not agree with it.

    Those ocelots are beautiful cats!

They are enormous and quite striking. I don't think my little torbie female would tolerate another cat in this house. The boy toy fatboy already aggravates her every chance he gets.
