Unhappy My cat keeps throwing up

My cats are completely indoors these days because we recently moved and I don't think they are ready to go outside yet.

Jacie is 5 years old. She throws up about 4 times a week. It isn't because of hair because I never see any in the vomit. Sometimes it is watery and sometimes it is food that she ate two minutes before. I don't know what her problem is. Other than throwing up, she seems perfectly fine. Does anyone have any ideas?

    Debt as of 10/25/09:

    Student Loan: Currently $9500

    Mortgage: $472,000
    Discover CC: $6500 at 0%
    Chase Disney: $3000 at 0%

    Goals:
Get monthly food budget down to $200/month for me and my husband.

I had a cat who threw up all the time and the vet said it was from hair even though there was none in the vomit. Apparently the hair was clogging her up and she was throwing up her stomach contents, but the hair was going through her digestive tract. It was clear though that she was eating a lot of hair, as she had a skin condition on her back and would chew herself bald. She was very high strung and her condition was chronic throughout most of her life.

Did she just start throwing up, or has she been doing it a long time?

You may want to try a different cat food? My older cat can only eat one kind Purina indoor formula, she will throw up anything else. She has always had a very sensitive stomach, if she sees an ant on the patio and starts gagging

You may want to check out a hairball formula. It helps many cats with this problem. Good luck!

That would be my suggestion as well. I had a dog that would throw up frequently and after 4 years, we finally figured out it was her food. I don't know how we were so dense. Poor thing!

I agree with changing her food and going with a hairball formula.

Your cat may be getting a colon problem...Try hair ball stuff for her and check her stool...If it is very hard give her canned food every other day or so for a while..mine lived another 10 years with is but it was very expensive...try giveing here mineral oil for a few days if her stool is hard...to try to get her to pass the hair ball build up that she has now and you can give this every day if necessary...Don't let this go on to long because it can kill her

You also might want to try a "sensitive systems" formula. Sometimes out of the blue they can just develop problems with their food for reasons not known to us and then different food needs to be introduced. I have 6 cats and some of them were on the hairball formula and after awhile that didn't work either (maybe it was just my cats), and then when I went to SS (Purina One has a good one) they were just fine. Good luck!

I will look into the hairball food. She does have pretty long hair and is shedding like crazy. Hopefully this will solve the problem.
