    Default Clipper suggestions

Dh and I are wanting to try to start grooming our own cocker spaniels. They have gotten a little out of control with their hair thickness as of right now. I'm just wondering if anyone here grooms their own dogs, and if so what kind of clippers do you use? Do you find it hard to do? TIA for any suggestions. :dog:

It depends on how much money you want to spend. Wahl makes some decent ones that aren't outrageously priced. Just buy a human set--the ones at Petco cost waaay more than at WalMart's "people" one. Clippers are clippers.

We have some people ones that we tried earlier this week, and they didn't work at all on them. I don't know if was because they were cheap clippers or not. I think their fur is too thick right now. We may have to get one more professional groom to get them where we can manage their fur. It's pretty long and shaggy right now.

I tried the "people clippers" and bought the pet ones from walmart and they both did not work. You get what you pay for. I bought a set from petco and they work great I paid 85.00 for them but you get your money back really quick if you have two dogs to clip.

We have an Oster clipper for grooming dogs that we bought from Petsmart about 11 years ago.We have used it to groom our Chow Chow who has very thick fur and it has worked very well. The only thing we have had to do is get the blades sharpened.
