Default What is WRONG with people???

People Dumping Pets At Local Landfill

People abandoning their pets has always been a problem, I suppose, but the city dump? How can you be that heartless? I just can't believe some people, at the very least, can't be bothered with dropping their animals off at the local shelter. Euthanization would be far more kind then what's happening to these poor creatures.

It is awful. Around here, they have actually dumped puppies and kittens into the county dumpsters (that are attached to compactors!!!!) How someone could do that to an animal, knowing full well what could happen....... That is how I ended up with 1 of my dogs and 1 of my cats, we found them in the compactor dumpster - and the service person that comes by to operate the compactor daily says that she has to call out animal control several times every week to pick up animals she finds there. It's a sad, sad situation.......

I wouldn't call them people. I have a word for them...but it's best left unsaid.

In my opinion, those that do this sort of thing are capable of anything.

HOW DISGUSTING! Perhaps those who partake in such cruelty should be put into a compactor dumpsters as their punishment!

Unfortunately,it's VERY common. Our vet had a litter of kittens from a newspaper drop box a couple of years ago. These were TINY kittens and it was FEBRUARY. If the vet's friends hadn't been there...

Some people should not be allowed to LIVE. let alone reproduce.

I dont understand how people can be so cruel. It's a shame too! I would NEVER do something like that, ever. Goes to show you that if they treat animals like that what else will they do?

I agree 100%!!! A girl I work with found a husky pup in a rubbish pile at the dump. It had its head hit with a hard object and a broken leg. She rushed it to the vet and the vet figured it had brokwen its leg and the owner hit in the head with a hammer instead of pay for fixing the leg. What a monster! Well the pup survived and has a terrific home with my coworker now. Thank heavens!

We live along the road to the local animal shelter. You wouldn't believe how many people stop in my yard instead of making the trip on out there. I have got up in the mornings to find in my yard, a lamb, geeses, ducks, cats by the dozens, and chickens, rabbits and a dog. Yes, I really do end up with a zoo in my yard! The sad part is, If I don't see them in time they will die, we live along a very busy highway and people just dump them while its dark and I guess they always think we will see them in time to keep them safe. I told my husband the last time it happened that I would like to sit up and night and just be able to catch one person in the act! I know they would never do it again if I could just catch them in time.

They need stiffer laws against this stuff, they should do hard time in jail and be treated the way they do the animals!! I think these acts speak loudly about how people think when it comes to pets. They don't think of them as living breathing things, they are throw aways! Its criminal, and they should be caught and punished!

We live in the country and we have always had unwanted animals dropped out in these parts because owners don't want them or can't afford them any more. I have noticed an increase this year compared to the past (more cats than dogs). I have farm cats and feed them more during the winter months but they can fend for themselves during the warmer months. Some of these cats that are dumped lived inside and haven't a clue on how to fend for themselves and find their own food, I was feeding them at first and slowly weened them off some food, luckily they caught on by seeing the other cats (I keep more of an eye on them and give them regular cat food if I think they need it). I can't afford to feed all the dumped off animals, I try to do what I can and in a perfect world I would be able to, but when I see one come along in really bad shape, I try to give it extra care and let them stay in the shop out of the weather (the cat's have access to barns in the winter and they can stay pretty warm) and away from other cats, but when the vet comes out to work the cattle I have him take any animal back with him that I feel I can no longer help, because as sad as it is, I would not want any animal to suffer.

I just don't know how people can do it?
