Senior Cat Food
My 'mature' cat (14) seems to be not tolerating her wet food as she used to. She is on Friskies and seems to be throwing up the 'senior' version (Chicken and Giblets?) She cannot tolerate fish versions of food. I have tried Iams and she won't go near it! She only eats wet food. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I might try?
Thanks!

Are you giving her the pate version of wet food? Although my old cats would eat their food fast (pieces with gravy) they would often throw it up. I started giving the pate texture and limiting the amount that I gave at one time. I would spread it out on a plate so that they would have to eat it slower. I did notice that sometimes there might be a health related reason (abscessed tooth) going on during this time and I wondered if the two were related. I think it is 9 Lives that they are eating now, and they seem to like it. They have chicken, super supper, and liver versions of the pate form. Good luck.

Thanks for your advice Pip. You're right - she does seem to tolerate the pate food better. I have had her at the vets in the past few months for a check up so I don't think it is a tooth absess. I will try the 9 lives (as it's one I haven't tried yet!)

My senior tabby went to the Rainbow Bridge 2 weeks ago. He was 15. Before he got sick with kidney disease, he ate Fancy Feast minced food, but only the beef and the turkey! He actually ate this type and flavor most of his life and seemed not to be bothered by the "routine" of only 2 flavors. Occasionally I would purchase the Florentine versions of Fancy Feast when they went on sale. But they seemed to be too rich for him and he was underwhelmed. He had no dental issues; he just did not like the larger pieces of food. Too much work for him, I guess.
