found the coolest pet product ever!
It's called the SnuggleSafe. It's at Amazon and PetsMart (way cheaper at Amazon). It looks like a frisbee but solid and heavier. You put it in the microwave for five minutes (depending on the wattage) and heat it up. It maintainsa a temp of about 100 for a good two or three hours here in CO, and then SLOWLY cools to around 50 or so over the next few hours. You can put it under a pet bed for your dog or cat, I am using two, one in each chicken coop. They wipe clean, are reuseable over and over and over, no cords, they aren't chew proof, so keeping puppy from chewing it might be a problem. They are peck proof thus far. No cords so my birds are warm and if it gets wet it won't fry my birds. I put it in their coops at 10 pm (20 or so degrees outside) and by 8 am they are still around 45-50. Cool huh?? Mine came with washable covers, but I don't use them with the birds. Another idea would eb to heat em up, put the cover on and toss it on you bed under the covers about an hour before you go to bed! Nice and warm!
