Another one putting her dog to sleep today...
It has been coming since last fall. He hurts wehn he stands up, in his back end. We give him meds, but it doesn't seem to be helping anymore. He gets up off the floor soooooo slowly, and walks pretty wobbly. He is almost completely blind.
He has congestive heart failure. Takes two meds for that, including one that is a diuretic, so he has to pee a LOT. And even before that, he was already becoming incontinent in #1 and #2. Now, all I do is shampoo the carpet with my steam cleaner. I feel like we are ruining our house over it, then I feel guilty for feeling that, and on and on........
Today, dh said 'call 'em'. I was waiting till he was good and sure. I didn't want to be the only one who was 'ready'. So, in about an hour and a half.....

Thanks guys. He was our sons' dog, but they go off to college and their own lives, and we are left to fall even further in love with 'their dog' and then make this decision.
The 'boys' (my sons) have already been consulted at Christmas when they were home, and they know it's coming. We had the family talk. They are cool with it....well, not cool, but ...you know.
I used to take this ole' mutt over to a fort near us and we'd walk all over the place (RUN when we were both younger! LOL!) so I have a lot of good memories with him. I'll cherish them.______

A big frugal village group hug for you! That is one of the hardest decisions to make. But sometimes the time just comes and it is the right thing to do.
I hope you do alright with the transition ahead.

I am so sorry. When it was time for my dogs, I KNEW it was the right time, but it still broke my heart none the less.

It breaks your heart, but when it's time we have to let go of them.

Well, it's done. I have such mixed emotions. But I DO feel it was time.

If you feel that strongly that it was time...then it was. He is no longer in pain.
