Is your dog losing it's nose pigment?
Or is it dry and scaley? Possibly infected sometimes?
Know what the cause is?
I can't find the link, but there are reports of the coatings used in plastics are causing this. For some the discontinuation of using a plastic dish has allowed the dogs nose to heal, and pigment returns.
Think Stainless steel is a safe alternative? Think again. Not all SS dishes are created equal. Many aren't marked where they are made, those are mostly China, and they use a coating on the SS that causes the same affliction.
I'm moving to pyrex dishes for my Bella, she has recently went from a nice dark brown nose to a some what pinkish nose. Research has shown some dogs are severely affected by this coating. Others lose pigment with little other side effects. One lady reported letting her dog had a nose infection, dry scaly and eventually infection, vet had no idea. After a bit, she realized the difference for her dog, is she had recently started allowing her pooch to like the yogurt container. She discontinued that practice and the nose issue cleared up.
To be safe, my ss are disappearing, and using pyrex. Can still sanitize it to my satisfaction, readily available, and sturdy.
Thought I'd share!

Our old dog that passed last year had a very bad raw nose until she died. I can't understand why your vet didn't not know what the problem was. My vet showed me many pictures of dogs with the same afliction as Kara in various stages. There is a real disease that affects the dogs nose and it can't be cured. I can not remember what the vet called it. I only thing that we could do was treat it with creams. Kara hated when we put anything on her nose and always licked it off after, so we had to stop that before it made her sick.
Good luck with your dog.

We have friends with an Autralian Shepard with this condition. I think they said it's a form of Lupus??? They use a cream on it and try to keep her out of the sun.

The dogs mentioned were tested and were otherwise healthy, no auto-immune conditions, blood work was always clean. Something to consider, that's all.

Our Golden retriever's nose turned pink in her first year, she is now 10..I was told it was plastic bowls, but our other two dogs have absolutely no nose problems.... the vet didn't seem concerned and they are all healthy

How strange! I noticed this on FIL's little maltese dog and wondered what it could be.

This is very interesting, our dog's nose has been getting pinker all the time, starting in November. I was thinking it is because he likes to burrow nose first into the snow. Now I wonder.
