Can cats and dogs really get along?
They do in my house.
Here's a picture of everyone relaxing on our bed. I think it's generally accepted that the master bed is the best place in the house.
If you look at the upper left hand corner at the big wad of cat, there are actually two cats curled up together. Boo, our all black cat, is a little difficult to see in this picture. He's somewhere under Agodor, the black and white cat.

yep. it's usually the dog is curious & wants to play & the cat takes this as an aggressive advance.
so if the cat is introduced at a younger age, the possibility of them getting along is higher than with an older cat.
Now personalities need to be taken into account... i've been around many grumpy/older animals who enjoy their peace & quiet & a bubbly little "new friend" is too much. LOL
but yes, definitely.

We have always had good luck. However, we always introduced a puppy to older cats. I am not sure how it will work to bring in a kitten to a house with grown dogs. The way we have done it, the cats beat the puppies up so even when the dog gets to be one-hundred and fifty pounds it still fears the cat.

We have brought all ages together. We've brought puppies to older cats, kittens to older dogs, puppies to older dogs and kittens to older cats lol. No matter what order we introduce them...the cats always rule the roost

Tiff, great picture. Your furbabies are adorable

Mine used to do the same thing. Now, sadly we are down to just one cat. He still loves to sleep on our bed however.

Awwww, is that every cute!!! Our older cat tigger thinks he is the alpha of the house although Sampson the rottie likes to think HE is. So funny sometimes watching them fight for domination!

I showed your pic to my husband and asked if it reminded him of anyone. He just laughed. We used to have three huskies on our bed every night. Good thing it was king sized with side rails or we'd have been sleeping on the floor.
Our five cats and two dogs all met each other as adults. The dogs and cats get along fine. The cats, however, still have their spats.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ha! I'm glad we aren't the only ones.
We must have been fortunate because we have never had any trouble introducing a new animal into our house. We had two cats (DH had them when we got married) got Max as a puppy, then added the other two dogs as adult rescues. Lastly we got Boo, who as a kitten came into a house with two cats and three dogs. We are a very adjustable family I suppose.

That is a really sweet picture. Unfortunately in my house dogs and cats cannot get along. But at least they can coexist.
