    Default Wal-Mart's low on Pet Food?

    I was at my local Wal-Mart Monday night to pick up school supplies and while there I thought I would go ahead and pick up dog food.

    As I swing around the main isle, there's usually dog food there so I always look for my brand... nothing... so down the dog food isle I go...

    there are signs all over

    paraphrasing;

    "we are sorry for any inconvenience, the manufactures are slow to ship. If you need any help in finding a comparable product, ask one of our associates"

    I am in Los Angeles and immediately called a friend in Houston to give her the heads up. We both feed Purina brand dog food. She called 4 Wal-Marts in her area and the same signs were in those stores too.

    I bought 3- 44 pound bags... each of my dogs eats about 1 - 50 pound bag a month. Now that they have reduced it down to 44.1 pounds, I need 4 bags to get through the month. Raise the price and reduce the amount.

    Purina pallet was half full or half empty! I will be stocking up and getting about 2 months ahead so if I need to switch their food, I can start mixing it gradually. *sigh*

    Anyone else seen this in their area? if yes, which state and or city? and if you can't get your brand what are you going to do?

    I just went to walmart today and now that you mention it the shelves in the dog food area were slimmer. Now I am going to pick up another bag of food for my pooch.

    Read on another forum that some Pet food is being recalled due to the Peanut Butter Fiasco. Don't know if that has something to do with it but one never knows these days. Why don't you try another grocery store to see if it's the same problem with them too

    I'll be going to check that out this weekend at our Wal Mart. It's always a good idea to stock up.

    Plenty in grocery stores here. It seems to me if *Wal-Marts* in various areas are short on dog food, and not other stores, that it isn't a problem on the manufacturer's end.

    i haven't been in wal-mart here in indiana for a few weeks so i can't say but i was just telling a friend a little while ago that i think i will start stock-piling cat food & litter coz even though i don't stockpile food (okay i could live for about 6 wks and not starve to death... and then another 2-3 weeks on my body fat lol....) if the masses panic and start buying up all the stuff it will be a pain the rear to get it and although i could use newspaper in the box and feed the 'boy's something from the kitchen...i really don't want to have to try and impliment plan B...

    so even if we don't have the hysteria....the manufacturers are going to be a little slower in this market so we probably should plan ahead...

    Hmm. I noticed that our wal-marts are always low lately when I grab treats for Bella. But i get food from a small pet pharmacy, it's manufactured just 20 minutes away. So i buy that one. THat 100-mile thing. Plus it's human grade ingredients. I like that too. Since we only have small pooches, a 50lb bag lasts over 2 months, so not a big expense.

    We saw the same thing at ours. Wonder what's up that they aren't telling us about?

    I noticed the shelves were empty as well.

    I'm curious what kind of dog you have that eats 50 pounds of food a month? I have 3 dogs (70#, 70#, and 40#) and we go through MAYBE 60-70 pounds of food a month. That's for all 3 dogs, with the cats nibbling on it as well.
