Default WOohOo, does that work slick!

I was going to bring Bella to get her nails trimmed. She fights me so hard. Dh asked how much it cost, and it's $8. He asked how often, I told him when I do it it's 1x a month. He said it would be worth getting the nail grinder. It would pay for itself in 2 months with 2 dogs.

Well, I picked up the Dremel one, the other one looked cheaply made and the replacement disks were pricey. With the Dremel, I can go to the hardware store to get new ones.

Bella wouldn't let me near her. So out of curiosity I went on the online classifieds and did a search, and I found a grooming arm! It clamps on the table, has the grooming noose to restrain her

SO I gave it a trial run. She was no impressed at being restrained and she did fight the dremel. But then she just sat down and let me do it! Took just a couple minutes to grind her nails down. Not as short as I'd like, but we'll do it again in a few days.

I am going to LOVE the grooming arm, since I clip my dogs hair at home. We have an old table, and I'll find a no slip bathmat to put on it so they don't skid around. It will make clipping them and brushing them out so much faster. Bella likes to be brushed so I figure using the grooming arm for something she enjoys, will make it less scary. And make it so much faster for me.

She was well rewarded once she stopped fighting. Then I started again, and while not completely passive, she didn't resist me continueing her pedicure! She's quite neurotic about us touching her feet. I can play with her feet but as soon as I have something in my hand she fights. So now I"m putting some solid boundries. That'll save me $16/mo on nails, and $90 every 2 months for hair!(Ok, i haven't paid to do Bella's hair yet, I've always done it, but with 2 it might be overwhelming, but now, it'll be much faster and easier). A savings of $122 every 2 months. THe grooming arm and grinder will pay for itself quickly. The clippers have already paid for themselves. Dh and Ds use them for their hair and I use them for Bella's..lol. So it didn't take long since I do Bella every 2 months, and dh and ds use it almost monthly.

I would never have thought of getting a grooming arm for home. Good thinking on your part to check it out. You have just saved a bundle of money over time.

I'm thinking in a couple years I may take a few grooming courses and market my services I'm not sure, but it's something I want to look into.

So having some equipment will come in handy, but regardless, I'll be saving all the grooming costs by doing it from home!

Ok, you have peaked my interest! I'm paying $45 every 2 months for Buddy's hair and nails.
Brandy doesn't need haircuts but it takes 2 people to hold her down (3 would be better) to cut her nails.
I saw that nail thingy on tv and thought - oh yeah, right. But maybe with the grooming arm I could clip Buddy's hair and 2 both of their nails.

    Gonna try it!!
    Thanks

I didn't get the one from TV, although Petsmart does carry it. I went with the Dremel pet one. It was more, but the disks are way cheaper, so it'll save me in the long run.

Bella wasn't cool with the grinder, but the arm reduced the fight, and she was pretty complacent over all. She doesn't mind the sound as I used the handle to give her a massage with the gentle vibrations..lol. So she associates that with sound. But thevibration on her nails is not her favorite thing.

We'll start with that from the beginning with the puppy(5 more sleeps!). The arm really does help. Don't leave them alone though, they could hang themselves quite easily.
