Default Saying goodbye due to financial situation

Due to a dramatic change in our financial situation and the fact that we are moving from a house to a one bedroom granny suite. We are having to give away our two cats who are 8 and our rabbit. We are moving into my moms granny suite and she said we could bring our dog. Whom my DD calls her brother. I am heart broken over this, I keep trying to think that I am doing the right thing because the home I found for our cats has children and can afford to take care of them. So they will be better off. But I still am crying about it everyday. I know the people they are going to so I am sure they will give us updates and we can still get them a Christmas gift or see them every once in a while, but I still feel like the worst pet owner alive. I haven't been able to find a home for our rabbit yet. My mom has sort of said that as long as I keep looking I might be able to bring him instead of taking him to the shelter, until I can find him a home.
Things have been so crazy here and I am on stress leave ( I have other mental health as well) and probably not returning to work and the bank told DH that we have six months that we can default on the mortgage before they evict us. So we are trying to sell the house quickly. I am just so overwhelmed and then having to find homes for my fur babies has just been heart breaking. I know I am doing the right thing but it still hurts.

I am so terribly sorry you find your self in this place. I used to volunteer for animal rescues. Know that you did a wonderful job finding them homes and not putting them down. People used to try and turn in old and sick animals to us but they are virtually unplaceable. The fact that you know these people is a plus and should give you some solice. When times are tough I always tell myself " Frugalwarrior, remember nothing good or bad lasts forever." It's important to remind yourself and project forward. You have a place to go,they have a place to go, you will work to get your mental health issues in the best order you can, things will equalize. Bad times are just a phase too. I have had troubles from which I speak. The library has internet so please pop in when you can. Best wishes and prayers.

I am so sorry! It's never easy to give up a pet, but it sounds like you found some great homes for them. Be VERY grateful for that! Our local shelter (I volunteer weekly) currently houses approx. 9 dogs and......185 cats. People seem to think cats are disposable.

Good for you to find good homes! I know it's hard to feel good about giving them up, but you really do have a reason to feel good!

    *hugs*

    Awww.

Losing any family member is hard, especially if it's of the furry kind. My mom had to put her dogs to sleep when they got really sick and that broke her heart. I think it's part of why I can't have animals (aside from DS10 being allergic) because I'd feel the same way if I had to go through what you're going through.

They're going to a great home from the sounds of it. Can you still go visit, or will it be too hard on you? I'm sure that once everything gets straightened out, perhaps you can once again have your kitties and rabbit.

By finding them a good home, you showed how much you love and care for them. People who don't just release them. I can't imagine how hard this is but you did the best you could for them. I am so sorry you find yourself in this situation.

Giving your pets a good home is one of the best things you could do under these stressful circumstances.
Best of luck to you......take care of yourself and hang in there!!

We are moving and can not take our cats either, I am trying to find them a good home. It is so hard on my youngest, she is so attached to them. She is the only one they would let pick them up and carry around like babies lol. They fall asleep in her arms, BTW she is 7.

I am dreading going through this with her, she knows we can't take them and is already upset.

Sending you hugs, I am glad that you found them a good home.

So sorry to hear about your situation. I had to also give away my furbabies years ago. Pretty much for the same reason. It was very hard. Try and take comfort in knowing you are doing the best you can for them. Also that you have been able to find them a good home.
