Welcome home, Angus McBunny
As some of you know, I lost my English Angora bunny, Colton, a few weeks ago. I debated getting Polly, my other EA bunny, a new mate, but decided to wait a while.
Today, I went to Animal Control and what do I see? A baby Angora bunny!! And he has been there since July!! He isn't a purebred English Angora, or if he is, he certainly wouldn't win any awards. First, he is TINY, even though he is almost the same age as Polly. Second, his ears hang more like a lop. Third, he has almost no furnishing (bangs). But he has that beautiful white angora coat, and cute little pink eyes. He looks kind of punk-rocker, because the AC officer marked him (for spay/neuter purposes) with dye, but did it right on his forehead.
All I know about him was that he was an owner surrender, and that he was VERY matted when he came in and had to be cut down. The staff named him Rutley, but even the woman who handled the adoption said she hated that name.
So right now, the bunny previously known as Rutley is in quarantine in the finch room, in a roomy "new" cage (old bird cage, but bigger than the one he was in at AC). I'm going to give him a few days to settle in before working on the remaining mats. I could tell, when I handled him at AC, that he is definitely NOT used to being groomed, so I don't want to stress him out too much.
His new name, which just sort of popped into my head, is Angus McBunny. I like the way it sounds, so that will probably be his permanent name. He is already neutered, so all I have to do now is groom him and spoil him and eventually introduce him to Polly and see if she accepts him as a new friend.DH aka Mad Hen

What fun for you all!! I sure miss our bunnies - the peace that they bring to your heart when you hold them - it's a wonderful thing. Love the name

I do love the name. I am sure Polly will inform him he has come to live in a matriarchal household.

fixer, oh, yeah, Polly chased poor Colton all over the place before he finally realized that his job was to groom her and be a pillow.
Pics - yes, I want to get some of him today. I wanted to give him the day, yesterday, to just get to know his new temporary home and surroundings. He is a little wild, obviously not handled much - sweet but very scared - so I didn't want to have a flash in his face until he had a chance to settle in.
I also want to get a pic while he still has his little punk doo.

Here are some pics of him. He is still very timid, but he is eating all his goodies and seems pretty calm-natured.

Oh Angus is adorable!!! Such a cute rocker! He favors DD's first bunny, Snowball.
Our bunnies loved their treats. Yogurt chips, grapes and bananas seemed to be big time hits with each of them. I loved to watch them dive into the treat bowl when I would fill it. When one of our bunnies, Bud, wanted treats he would flip his bowl upside down using his head. It was comical to see him get fussy and show his personality.DD (19)

Polly's treats are dried cranberries and papaya, dry oatmeal, and raw sunflower seeds. She also gets a bit of a banana-flavoured baby teething cookie daily, usually after grooming.
So far, Angus seems to share Polly's love for the cookies! He polished off his salad, but I haven't tried the other goodies yet.DH aka Mad Hen

He is so cute, have fun getting him use to his new home and being spoiled. He's a lucky bunny to find a new home with you!
