Default Does your pet know when you are having a bad day?

Things have been a little nuts around here. Unfortunately I have not been in the best states of mind lately.

One thing I do notice is that my cat during these times depending on my mood will either come up and snuggle or knows when it is useless and stays away.

I had one cat who would literally lick away my tears if I was crying.

So what does your pet do when you are having a bad day. Do you notice that they are trying to comfort you?

If I'm a bit sad or getting sick my 3 dogs and a cat I had for 18 years ( he passed now) all seemed to pick up on it and mob me with attention. My current two kitty are stand offish.

We had a rott/dob mix for years before she passed. She was my youngest sons shadow. I knew something was wrong with that child physically or if he was sad/mad at a distance by the dog being glued to him. When he was sad or ill ( or in a time out!) That dog would sit stuck to his side, lick his hands and whine.

I don't think my cats give a crap about me. Just as long as I'm able to bring them their food, is all.

Thats how our two current cats are

I thought of another one. If dh and I get in a little disagreement and he raises his voice even a tiny bit my tiny little yorkie mix sits on my lap and growls and him. The 6 lb
Cujo defending me is so funny we usually are laughing so hard we forget what we were disagreeing about

Our Pekinese does with hubby. When he's sick she sticks to him like glue. By the chair or bed but she's there. Sometimes he'll put her in his lap. She just sits.

With the daughter she'll sit/lay back and look at her. But not like with him.

Me...not so much...she has selective memory loss about who feeds her...waters her...90% takes her out...I'm just mom

Yep...all three know when I feel bad or am sick.
They try to help with LOTS of extra loving and smothering...especially my Rottweiler...he's a Momma's boy...and a HUGE lap dog...
All three have to be in the same room as me, and if I'm moving around, they follow me around...from room to room, in a line...it's so funny to watch them...

Yeah my lab knows when I'm sick he always likes to stick his nose in my face when I'm laying down. If i'm sad he likes to do weird things to make me laugh.

My 'little white boy' will be there with hugs and kisses and want to stick by me.

The 'little black girl' just CREATES my bad days!!! Her only worry would be that I might not get up and get her the next meal!! But she follows me everywhere...........I guess, in case I drop a morsel that she can eat!!

I'm not so sure about the dogs. The one that has attached to me, is attached regardless. My grumpy, moody, Queen Sheba cat of 22 years (and I am soooooo not a cat person...she was a dumpster dying dumpster find that I got attached to), she always knew. If I was sad, she was always there. If I was sick she'd lay by my feet. If I was sad she'd rub my hand or my arm and purr really loud. She'd even hiss if people tried to get to close to me if I was really upset.

My little weiner dog is usually a daddy's boy. But if we are stick he is right there with whomever the sick one is. He sleeps with my DD and is very protective of her. Does not like for anyone to come into her room and try to wake her up.

We used to have a black lab (Domino), that when DD was sick was her shadow, and if she moved or groaned, ran to the BR etc.... if I was not in the room with her, Domino would run and find me, or even wake me up. Once DD was really bad sick and Domino went into the bedroom and pulled a pillow off of the bed and drug it into the living room and slept on the pillow on the floor beneath where dd was layng on the sofa.
