My cats often leave food uneaten, but eventually finish it (even 5 or 6 hours later). According the website (catinfo.org) that convinced me to switch to canned food (after I got quite depressed from my cats dying of kidney or liver disease), it's okay to leave it out because cats have shorter guts than humans... so I guess they don't get sick from bacteria that might develop from leaving the food out at room temperature. Sounds so appetizing, doesn't it? Anyway, my cats haven't had any digestive problems.
