Default I Went to the Animal Shelter Today

I've been thinking about adopting a doggie for awhile, but being smart about it. Oh my heart melted and I didn't want to leave.

They had this huge cat area which was pretty cool because they all roamed around in a big room with lots of toys and you could just hang out with them. (some was in cages) My son loved it since he loves kitties. Oh but the poor doggies. We took a few out and played with them for awhile. I have my eye on a couple.

One was a Jack Russel Terrier and the other was a mixed Poodle of some sort.

My facebook status on weekends normally is

" IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO LOOK FOR A PET THIS WEEKEND OR UPCOMING WEEK PLEASE MAKE THE ANIMAL SHELTER OR HUMANE SOCIETY YOUR FIRST VISIT BEFORE GOING TO A BREEDER OR PET STORE. YOU MAY FIND YOUR NEW BEST FRIEND THERE. REMEMBER THESE COME TO YOU ALREADY SPAYED OR NEUTERED. SAVE A LIFE...ADOPT FROM A SHELTER NOT A BREEDER"

Oh Palooka, don't you just want to bring all of the animals home with you after visiting the shelter? We always look at all of the cats at PetsMart adoption center when we buy our pet food and our heart just melts because we want to bring all of the cats home.

I hope that you find the perfect dog that will be a friend to your whole family.

I also am looking for a dog. I went to the animal shelter 2 days ago and saw a blond lab mix. Unfortunately he had too much energy for me. He would not stop jumping. I was trying to take him outside and a man and his wife probably felt sorry for me and helped me get him to the outdoor cage to let him run. He continued to jump on me and I was all full of mud. I had to ask another man giving the dogs exercise to take him back in. He was a beautiful dog. I am still looking!!!! I've been petless a little over 2 years WAY TOO LONG

It is heartbreaking to see all those dogs begging you with their eyes to take them home.
I was very lucky with my dog, I just knew the second I saw her she was the one. I love her to pieces and would do anything for her. As a matter of fact I pretty much do, she is so spoiled. My husband was laughing at me for fluffing her pillow. He says it's cute but I think he is real jealous of all the attention she gets.

Jack Russel's are very active.........but I am partial to poodle mixes. (wouldn't have another 'full poodle' again ---have had two) Must less shedding with poodle mix too.......

Don't forget petfinders.com ............that is how I found 'my little white boy'..........and he is a gem!!

Go to their website------and from there you can get to the shelters in your area.........and cover a much bigger area w/o driving.
Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

I vote poodle mix, as well. Poodles are extraordinarily intelligent and are one breed that really tries to please their owners (not all do; I have a husky mix that makes me totally appreciate my standard poodle all the more!). Poodles are easy to train and are usually long lived and relatively healthy. The non-shed is countered with some brushing and possible professional grooming (but you can learn to do it yourself if you're not fussy about the trim). Of all my dogs, my poodle (I have a standard, the largest one) is the easiest (by FAR!) to live with. Kudos to you for considering adoption. Best wishes. . .

I absolutely DESPISE the animal shelter in our county. A few years ago I took a dog there and told them, "if nobody claims this dog, call me. I will adopt it. I called the next day to check on it and it had already be euthanized. Bastards don't give a damn about anything but money and their fees.

Another time I got a card in the mail saying one of the dogs license fees were late. Normally the fee is $12 for a neutered male. Well, because it was late it was $50!!

When I inquired about the reason, it was the old pass the buck run around... "we don't set the fees, the county does."

I was just on their site and they have 1 adoptable dog. Really, thats it? I know damn well they have more than one animal there but I also know what will happen to them.

    GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR now I'm pissed off.

Now you have succeeded in peeing me off also. I DO know what passing this on the internet does...it DOES help. You've seen my many many postings of dogs, cats horses.....I have helped a few find homes all because of the internet.
Stupid A$$ES...when you were willing to take the dog yourself. They would rather kill it. YOU CAN'T FIX STUPID AND IGNORANT
