    Default Question for bird owners

I've got a female red bellied parrot who is about a year old now. She's decided that I'm her one and only and will regurgitate for me and only lets me handle her. This is ok since I'm the only one who interacts with her and no one else has much interest. My questions is, has anyone had experience with getting badly bit (enough to draw blood) when another member of the family walks too close to you while you're holding a bird? I'm not sure if it's displaced aggression (she can reach my fingers, but not the fingers of the person she'd rather bite) or if it's a warning (watch out someone I don't like is coming too close and we need to get away).

Any thoughts? Obviously I'd like her to stop, but I'm not sure the best way to go about it. No one in my household is interested in becoming friends with her in order for her to see that she has nothing to worry about. I guess they figure if my fingers can get that mangled when she actually likes me, they're liable to get one nipped off entirely.

    Thanks!

I don't own a parrot, I've owned cockatiels. I found this article really interesting and the section about Fear-Loss of Control made me think of what might be going on. Basically since she owns/loves you, she is trying to control you when they are around. BITING PARROTS Why They Do It and How To Control It

    Hope it helps.

Electric Usage Challenge (doing well, under $70 most months)

Yah, I suck at this money stuff, I know. That's why I'm here.

can you have her seen by an avian vet in your area? They cna be sure it isn't somehting else and make reccommendations based on your bird. Mine made sure all was good and then suggested a few things to make mine stop. it was long ago though so I don't know what it'll help. One was immediately when bitten sternly tell her no, and set her down. No cuddle time if you are biting
