Was at PetSmart and saw all the stockings with pet toys in them. Held myself back and told myself that my cat has more than enough toys in her basket and I already had presents for her. Am pretty sure she doesn't even know there is a holiday coming up. lol

    I ordered one of these:
[ame="http://www.amazon.com/KONG-Hugga-Wubba-Colors-Vary/dp/B0018MXYW0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1323394663&sr=8-1"]Amazon.com: KONG Cat Hugga Wubba, Cat Toy (Colors Vary): Pet Supplies@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41TPFpqXSsL.@@AMEPARAM@@41TPFpqXSsL[/ame]
I have a big sheet of that crinkly stuff from a cat tunnel they trashed a while back, so if they like this toy I'll make them some more.

I also bought one of these for our shy kitty, Louis:
[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Catit-Design-Senses-Massage-Center/dp/B001LWRHA2/ref=sr_1_1?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1323394761&sr=1-1"]Amazon.com: Catit Design Senses Massage Center: Pet Supplies@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51Xgk7apQcL.@@AMEPARAM@@51Xgk7apQcL[/ame]
He loves to rub on things, so I hope he likes it. He's a good kitty who never asks for anything.

I couldn't find anything that made any sense for our doggies. The little one has tons of toys and chewies, and the big one doesn't like to chew or play with toys much anymore. They'll probably get some extra treats of some kind though, most likely homemade.

I was at the craft store today and I bought a small set of dog cookie cutters. My 10 yr old and I are going to make our 2 labs and toy poodle and my stepdaughter's dog (my grandpup) dog biscuits. I think she'll get a kick out of it.

The dog treats sound like a fun project. Tried making cat treats once and the place smelled like fish. Cat did not seem to like them at all.

Maybe I should try a recipe with cat nip.

I used to have a set of those dog bone cookie cutters but decided they were too much work. I just roll the dough right out on the cookie sheet and cut it in squares with a pizza cutter. Much quicker and the dogs don't care what shape they are.

We usually buy for our 6 indoor pets but are not this year. We are cutting expenses and it isn't like they care anyways LOL. They will get plenty of nibbles wile the house is full for Christmas dinner

A cheap kitty gift is cat grass. A whole foods store will sell wheat berries by the pound, which can be planted and grown into cat grass. A quarter cup or so isn't very expensive and goes a long way. Other grain seeds such as rye will work, too. Plant them in a flat, shallow planter that's not likely to tip, water, and set them in a sunny window. It grows really fast and kitties love it.

Doing the DIY version is much less expensive than buying the cat grass kits, and IMO it's a nicer set-up than using the cheap plastic saucer those kits come with.

You can also get catnip tea at the whole foods store which is a less expensive way to get catnip than buying it labeled for pets. Plus it's food-safe. Again, it can be bought in bulk for pennies. Or catnip can be grown in a pot like any other herb. Our cats completely ignore live, fresh catnip but some cats go nuts over it.

Got the cat a snuggie. On sale at Shoprite for $1.99. Was pretty funny watching her walk around with it on. She got out of it when she went under the covers.
