Thumbs down The cats have taken over our little town

I feel so badly for these poor cats and kittens. They are running wild and getting fed nothing but scraps when someone feels like feeding them. The tips of their ears are frozen and many are just little kittens. The mommy cats have had kittens and I'm sure most of the kitties have died. They are into everyone's garbage and even have stripped insulation from water pipes in a mobile home close to us and the ladies water line froze.

You can't catch them, they are just too wild and our town just doesn't do anything about them.

I wonder why people are so irresponsible when it comes to taking care of their pets.

Does your town have the same problem?

I agree that I think that the problems with cats and kittens taken over towns is everywhere...
I guess what someone should do is leave cat food out for them and try to catch them without hurting them in a safe humain trap if there is such a thing.
That way maybe they will be feed and can be checked out at a vet or the humain society to see how well they are and maybe adopted out.

In our town there are several groups that feed feral cats. They catch them in humane traps and have them spayed. Our SPCA will loan out humane traps. It is a real problem everywhere. I guess that is the thing that makes me most angry...Owners who will not take the responsibility to have their animals altered. An animal is a lifelong commitment. That includes making sure they don't reproduce!

We have the same problem. There is a lady down the street from me who *thinks* she's doing a very good thing. She feeds the feral cats.....but that's all. They reproduce over and over and then they are a huge problem because they come into everyone's yards that has cats of their own. We have cat fights constantly because we have 2 cats that stay in our backyard (fenced). We have to be very careful to only put out enough food for our 2 to eat at a time..... . It's so aggravating.

~48 yr. old sahw, livin' it up in our empty nest, smack dab in the middle of everywhere.~

*We're debt freeeeeeeee! (including the house)*
