Kitty Rant!
Warning--get out your glasses of vodka and prepare to restrain me!
My neighbor's sister came over last night with a towel in her arms. She asked, "Is this you kitten? (we just got another last week) and opened the towel. Inside was the tiniest kitten I have seen away from its mom in a LOOONG time. It was a purring bag of bones. I could see every bone in its spine as well as every rib. Another neighbor came over and said she found the baby on the sidewalk when they were out for a walk. She can't keep her--her DH is an idiot who doesn't believe in properly caring for animals and they have a cat and a dog already. She had this tiny baby outside on its own! I told her in no uncertain terms that it didn't belong outside and her response was, "It's a CAT. It will be fine". My neighbor's sister said, "No, this baby shouldn't be outside alone." Thank GOD she and sis backed me up!
The "bad" neighbor said she couldn't keep the baby because her DH hates cats. I replied, "People who don't like cats usually aren't as smart as cats!" I know that this was snotty, but these people are IDIOTS. To make a long story short, I got her some canned food out of the house (she was feeding it softened dry food and God knows what kind of crap it was) to hold this tiny scrap of life together until Monday. She is going to call our vet to see if he will take her.

Poor baby
. I'm so glad you were there to look out for her!
One local shelter here has a night "drop off" where you can leave animals if you can't care for them. (If you bring them in during business hours they charge you a fee, which I've never quite figured out..... but I digress!) I never really understood why someone would drop an animal off like that, but I guess in this kitten's case, she would have been better off there than outside on her own! Like I said, glad to hear you were there for her!

Thank you for helping the helpless! People who can't help an animal shouldn't have kids either!

Kathy, I haven't seen the "bad" neighbor, so I am not sure. I am going to check with her in a day or two if I don't see her out and about.
