Smile Just call me DOCTOR Lori...

Wow, what an evening I had last night! I was grooming Sophie (our DLH, elderly, diabetic cat). As I was doing her bib, I noticed she was drooling a lot more than usual (she has almost NO teeth, so sometimes drools). Well...when I checked her mouth, I saw two things: she had a full piece of cat food stuck in an area where she used to have teeth and her upper left canine was pointed 90 degrees from where it should be! It was at the "9 o'clock" postion instead of "6 o'clock". It was very, very loose (she has bad teeth--result of being a rsecue!). So, I got DH, who has a very, very weak stomach. I had him wrap her in a blanket and look the other way. I got some tweezers and pulled out the cat food and extracted the tooth. It was almost out any way, but she was NOT happy with me. I sure can't blame her.

I took her in to be checked this morning in case there was an abcess and she might need antibiotics. I was told I did a great job and got all of the tooth out! I saved it so they could look it over in case anything important might still be up in the hole. My wonderful vet didn't even charge me for the office call! What a guy!

Poor DH turned green when I was doing the job. I thought he might pass out on me right there in the laundry room, hit the freezer with his head and I would have to stitch him up too!

Sophie is fine now. she forgave me about an hour after the procedure. She curled up in my lap and purred quietly.

    Lori,

You are so wonderful to take such good care of an animal that is in need of so much time and care. So many people where I live wouldn't take the time to do it. So I am always touched when I see people who will.

They really are family members and add so much to our lives.
Now on the tooth extraction note, WTG! And what a great vet to not charge you.
