    Default Surprises!

The other night I went in the kitchen to bake come cookies and when I turned on the light there were bird feathers all over my floor. I got out the vacuum and cleaned them all up and when I turned around there was a dead bird laying on the floor in front of my pellet stove. Nasty! My cat usually leaves his "gifts" outside, is there a certain time of the year they are more prone to "hunt"? This is disgusting!

Sorry I can't help you mamabird. Even though I have 10 cats, mine are all indoors cats. Sorry you had to clean up your cats 'gift'.

Thanks SewCrafty. He's been fixed but I guess just has that "hunter" instinct. Wow, 10 cats is a lot, how do you afford the vet bills?

One time I opened my front door {this was a few years ago} & feathers were flying everywhere My Dd's cat had left me a mess to clean up and she would also leave other "gifts" for us to find right in front of the front door so we would always be sure to see it. Fortunately my cat doesn't do that

Hee hee, our cat hunts on a much smaller scale. She brings us moths, crickets, and grasshoppers.

Our cats love to bring us "presents" also. We have to be careful when they have been out hunting that they don't bring their treasures in the house.

Ugh....Our tom cat used to bring his half dead gifts into the house. One time he brought me an injured mouse, laid it at my feet in the living room. The thing scurried under my chair and I squeeled!

~48 yr. old sahw, livin' it up in our empty nest, smack dab in the middle of everywhere.~

My dog brings me squirrels! I tell her..."get that outta here" and she takes it to the back of the yard, but later brings it back to me very excitedly until one of the boys disposes of the poor murdered critter!

LOL it is still just an expression of deep love and affection. Cat style. Disconcerting to the human pet, who doesn't understand that

a the cat is really the owner, and they just humour their pet into thinking its the other way round

    and

b the cat is expressing deep affection by sharing a kill, and if it's half dead, they simply want you to enjoy that final thrill to be in at the kill because as hunters they think that way.

Which leaves their human pet going like this
