Flea/Tick protection

I'm wondering what everyone else here uses to protect their dogs/cats against fleas and ticks.  I have an 8 month old cocker spaniel.  We have been using Frontline, but I'm wondering if it is the best.  If it is, where do you think is the cheapest place to buy it?

We use Frontline for our dogs. We still buy it from our vet. Some of the feed stores here sell it without you having to bring in a prescription for it, but their price is even higher than the vet's price. I think there are several mail order companies that sell it, but I believe they require a written prescription from your vet before you can purchase it.

We use Frontline here as well and knock on wood, have never had any trouble with it at all. We get it at the vet, but I have bought it at the feed store as well. Here, the feed store is much cheaper than the vet, but remembering to go by there is usually why I end up buying it at the vet.
