It isn't bad for them is the general belief. I give them some once a week - the kittens don't care for it til they get about 6 mons. some cats never like it. I have two boys who just love it but I vacuum it up the next day cuz it personally bothers me to see them act stoned and kooky for too long - Kennee will just lay there on his back with a glazed look in his eyes after a couple of hours - It is a marijuana plant. Raymond acts like he's on speed when he plays with catnip - he can't get anywhere fast enough - He reminds me of the old woman on "Something about Mary"!

I'm not sure if it is bad for them or not. I know all of their toys have it in them

I give it to them once a week, but most of their toys has it in them. I put it on the scratching pad and they go crazy for it!

Catnip is actually the mint herb. I buy mine fresh in the spring from the greenhouse and plant it in a big whiskey barrel outside. The cats love it when I bring it to them nice and freshly picked. During the winter months, I buy organic catbip from Petco and sprinkle it on the rug and put some in a catnip bag. I usually give it to them once a day.

I also give it to mine, they all love it and know the sound of the tub opening.

It is good for thier digestion.
