Picky cats (UPDATED)
Okay, so last payday, the bills almost outweighed the paycheck, so I bought the cheapest bag of cat food I could find at SAV A LOT. I feel so bad now! Kricket is crying for food, the bowl is full and she won't touch it. Harley was eating it until Kricket started having a fit, and now she won't eat it either. I felt so bad I gave them Tuna.......I cannot get any more cat food until Saturday, which is payday, should I just leave the food down, and not give in to the crying? Will they start eating it if I just wait?
I feel absolutely horrible.........Kricket has such a temper and she does hold grudges........she will probably never forgive me for this one.......LOL.........

Do you have any brown rice and sweet potatoes roxy? You can always make them some food. My cats enjoy the occasional homemade food of brown rice, mashed sweetpotatoes, tuna or canned salmon, peas, cooked carrots etc. Do you have any of these on hand?

Roxy, I was told by the vet that squash or canned pumpkin will fill them up, my girls love it, I give it to them every now and then in addition to their regular dinner. I think when they get hungry enough, they will eat what's in front of them.

You could also thin the tuna with water and mix a little of through the food everyday til Saturday!! I have a big Kitty (Raymond) who really holds a grudge - he hated Bob -Bob was really mean to my cats - and Raymond would
a big ol steamy right on Bob's pillow!! And he did it fairly frequently - even on new pillows for Bob (and only on Bob's)
so I know they really do hold grudges!!

roxy, another tip that might work if it's dry cat food. Why not try warming some milk to pour over the food. that might be enough to soften it so they'll eat the food while drinking the milk. Some cats have a problem digesting milk, many do not. It's worth a try if everything else doesn't work.

I'm not sure about cats, but when my older dog is having trouble eating. I pour chicken broth on the food. She eats it right up then.

Rhonda, I can't give Kricket milk, she is allergic.........but I will try that for Harley.
Kimmee........Kricket stayed mad at Matthew for a year, and would pee on his pillow every day...............
I might try the chicken broth for Kricket.........
I did catch her eating some of it earlier though, so I am gonna wait until tomorrow and see if I wake up to her crying and chasing me through the house..........talk about heartbreaking...........

Well, Kricket and Harley started eating their "cheap" food and are not chasing me around crying anymore. Tomorrow is payday and I will be buying them their regular food. My girls will be so happy!!!!!!

Cats are creatures of habit, and it's hard for them to accept any changes, especially food. They won't let themselves starve though and will usually accept new foods when they get hungry enough and see that it's their only option.
