Dogs eating bracken fern - Lori, do you know?
Lori or anyone who might know.
I know bracken is a poison for some animals but are dogs ok with it? I noticed my dog Rosie eating bracken fern this morning. She was ripping the tops off the bracken shoots and eating them. I thought she was eating grass at first but when I came closer, I noticed it was bracken. She did this when we were out walking. We have bracken in the front yard - I pull it out continually but it always reshoots. I need to know if I should keep her away from it.
I found this link, it says to give bracken tea to dogs as a treatment for ticks. I can't find any other info. Please help if you can, I can't ring the vet until Monday.

I am so sorry, but I don't have a clue! Check with your vet. I have never heard of it being a problem, but that may not mean a thing (there's LOTS I don't know LOL).

Thanks Lori. I phoned the vet this morning and he said Rosie should be fine. Small amounts are ok.
