getting to know all about you....

Well the fisrt 24 hours has gone well. Maleka is settling in real nice. Last night she sat on dh as he ate dinner. She let us pet on her back and neck. Today we were gone most of the day, so i tried to give her (of course Arc got attention too, as usual) some special attention and some outside the cage, stretch your wings time. What an experience! I put her on her playground and she played contentedly for a minute and then hopped up to the top of her cage. No big deal, Arc likes to be up high to see stuff too. I take a cup to the sink and -INCOMMING!!!! - here she comes straight at me. I freeze in case she freaks so that she doesn't have to change her flight plans and have a mid air collision. LOL. so anyhow I am frozen and whomp, she lands on my shoulder. I try to get her on my hand to put her on her cage, she flies back to me. I put her back again and walk away and she chases me down again. So i give up and let her sit there as i putter around the kitchen. Surely she'll get bored and go away. Nope. She stuffs her face in my ear. That'll wake ya up I tell ya. No biting, just a snuggle. But still, imagine...feathers stuffed in your ear. Your ear is all itchy and tickly right??? So she stops this and begins preening my hair, checking for dead ends i presume, lol, after all the time she spends on her hairdo. She won't get down after i am finished in the kitchen. so i go sit down and watch the rest of CSI:New York. She moves to sit on my chest as she looks around. I figure it must be a warm spot and a spot she can look around from. I get lost in the show, look down and she's tucked her head under her wing and has gone to sleep.

Eventually i got her to go back in her cage, but wow she's aot more lovey dovey than Arc. Hopefully she can rub off on him! If not he's still a terrific bird.

Anyhow, thought that i would share how she is settling in.

Missy when a little critter goes to sleep on you that is a GOOD sign, it means she feels afe and content so there must be some lovin' fibes around your place

She sounds so adorable and so loving, just reading your post I was getting quite jealous

Maybe Arc will see what a positive feed back gets you ( in terms of attention) and decide it's agood gig and take the hint?

I hope Maleka continues to settle in so well, and can I book a hair appointment with her for next week?

Sounds like she is indeed a sweetie pie. There are no better pets (save the mess) than well behaved birds. I'm thrilled for your fam. and the girlie birdie. Sounds like a match made in heaven for sure.
